OTY Seva (Service) Project

We'd like to invite you to participate in a simple service project as a yoga community. There are a few different ways you can help even if you can't make it to the actual event on 2/27! Please invite your friends to participate as well, the more the merrier!

Our intention is to try and help supply some of the basic needs for our homeless brothers and sisters in the area. We are planning to create some small care packages to hand out to folks in need as we meet or run into them, whether at stoplights in our vehicles, walking down the street, etc.

Ways you can help:
1- We need donations of items like small packaged snacks; white AND black tube socks; small toiletry items like soap/toothpaste/etc. may be appropriate but don't forget things like band-aids, antiseptic wipes/neosporin, hand sanitizer; maybe even tiny sewing kits; 'hot-hands'; etc. Feel free to get creative but the idea is to stuff the tube socks with these small items so that it's not a huge bag that has to be hauled around. (Please see additional notes below)
*Please bring items to the studio by Wednesday, 2/24 if possible so we can fill in any additional needs before Saturday!*
2- Show up at the studio on Saturday, 2/27 to help organize and stuff the socks to prepare for delivery.
3- Take a few 'care packages' with you to distribute!

We DO need volunteers for all 3 of these! Please consider one or more.

If you are planning to donate items, let's start a list on the Facebook event page so we don't end up with 300 pairs of socks and nothing to put into them!
NOTE: When choosing items to distribute, it would be great to keep a few things in mind. For example, choose things that you think can best serve anyone of any age, gender, etc. Also, we've had a few suggestions about items like combs, deodorant, and other items that we think may help someone prepare for job interviews, etc. While this is very thoughtful, keep in mind that finding a job is not even a possibility for everyone and we really want to be mindful about the practicality of items given. Since these will be small packages, how can we prioritize? We would love your suggestions!

THANK YOU in advance for your willingness to participate at whatever level you are able! ♥
