Here are answers to some common questions and concerns...

What is Yoga?

"Yoga" is a "union" of body and mind. It is a deeply personal experience through which you can create more self-awareness and improve your overall physical wellness (strength, flexibility, mobility, stamina).  Our weekly classes are mindfully structured to include a series of physical postures linked together with breath, which help you develop an awareness of and improve your physical, emotional and spiritual states. Meditation is often included before, during, and after the physical asana (posture) practice. We have classes ranging from mindful relaxation all the way up to powerful, physically challenging "vinyasa flow" (mindfully linking breath and movement at an upbeat pace) and everything in between.

I'm not flexible enough for yoga.

Anyone can practice yoga. You do not need to be strong or flexible, both will often come with practice. All you need to be is willing!

What class should I try first?

You may come to ANY of our classes. That said, everyone is different so check out the list of classes recommended for brand new students (on this page), along with the class descriptions page before making your decision about your first class. Most classes will contain students of all levels. The teacher will guide you through postures (asana) and breath work (pranayama), but it is YOUR practice, and each asana should be practiced to fit your unique body, not the other way around. Some classes will be more relaxing, some more athletic, but in all classes you should ALWAYS listen to your body, do what you can, take rest when you need to, and enjoy the experience!

What should I bring or wear?

Come to class wearing comfortable clothing suitable for exercise. Yoga is generally practiced with bare feet, so don't worry about your shoes. Bring a bottle of water and a mat if you have one. We have a few mats available at the studio, but strongly encourage our students to bring their own. You may also want to bring a hand towel.

How much are your classes?

We have options to fit all kinds of schedules and budgets. Please see the Pricing Guide to decide which package is right for you. Our New Student Starter Pass is highly recommended, and a great way to try out all the different class styles and teachers to figure out what is going to work for you going forward.
